Stephen Varney is another young Gloucester Rugby Academy product who has gone on to earn international honours.

The scrum-half impressed in the U18 league and went on to represent Italy at U18 and U20 level before being called up to the Gloucester Rugby first team under George Skivington, where he scored three tries in three games after the season resumed after the Covid break.

Varney excelled and was called up to Italy’s squad where he made his international debut against Scotland in the Autumn Nations Cup and impressed again for his country in the Six Nations.
